WRITE OF PASSAGE STUDIO

A rite of passage is a ceremony, ritual or process that marks a significant change in a person’s interpersonal, social and cultural status. 

In essence, a rite of passage celebrates the transition of individuals from one group to another and involves a profound change of status and responsibility within a group, a community and society.

"`Write of Passage Studio" is play on this concept... it is were urban youth and young adults will fellowship through cultural expressions of creativity. It is a place of connectivity and organic mentorship and peer-mentorship.

"`Write of Passage Studio" will be the nexus of our programming. It will be used as a major reward toward character development, positive social interaction attitude.

THE WRITE OF PASSAGE STUDIO will function in the future home of SAVE OUR SONS OUTREACH CENTER.

Our Vision is to have a space within the center where The Write of passage Studio is fully functional in operating capacity… in this studio urban youth and young adults will be able to practice and perfect their craft as part of the Urban Disciples Initiative & Sisters of Standard Mentorship & Peer-Mentorship processes which include:

MENTORSHIP - PEER-MENTORSHIP

a.      Receptive listeners will be invited to embark in an inductive training series that will further enlighten and liberate.

b.     Fellowship will be cultivated through working through a creative process alongside lay leaders and peers.

1.      Interested supporters will be invited to partake in the production process of the music video show. Receiving training in Studio Camera, Field Camera, Editing, Audio etc.

2.      Rap practitioners will have the opportunity to practice their craft with peers who have ascribed to the new method of behavior modification, in preparation for outreach. Aspiring artists will be instructed in the areas of:

·        Song Composition

·        Music Engineering

·        Music Production

. Video Production

·        Presentation & Delivery

3.      Adherents will escort peers and lay leaders on outreach tours.

Successful adherents will be placed in lay leadership roles.

·        Outreach Captains

·        Spokespersons

·        Mentor

·        Studies Coordinators

·        Music production Coordinators

·        Pod Casts and Online Show host/co-hosts

 Here Urban Disciples and Sisters of Standard will be able to perfect cultural performance arts skills, they will also be able to express their creativity before their peers and their community!

These showcases will include musical productions, plays, Poems and spoken word, dance and other performance art expressions.

The Write of Passage stage will be equipped with drums karma guitars, keyboards, computers and other music performance equipment. These presentations will be captured with video cameras. The equipment will utilize the learned skills through the sisters of standard, urban disciples and Write of Passage Studio…

Through participating in the Sisters of Standard and  Urban Disciples initiatives will enter into the ‘Write of Passage’ being trained to express themselves culturally in productive and creative ways.

Presently; we function out of ad hock locations like churches, basements and bedrooms. At other times we rent venues, and meet at other meeting spaces. We look forward to be able to have this space.
